Maurizio Fuselli - IGT Toscana Petit Verdot

Petit Verdot, planted by Maurizio Fuselli in 1998, finally came of age and is ready to be vinified as a single varietal. A wine born from the personal desire to tame a vine so impetuous and stubborn, it bears the name of its producer, who wanted it so much even though he knew that the task would be long and arduous. With the 2016 vintage, an elegant balance between the exceptional polyphenolic richness and the resolute tannic texture that characterize this grape variety is finally achieved.

Grape variety: Petit Verdot 100%

Training system: single spurred cordon

Vinification: 20 / 25 days in new French oak barriques

Aging: 18 months in new French oak barriques

Alcohol content: 14.5% Vol.

Annual production: 1.500 bottles

Color: crystal clear of an intense ruby red color with purple reflections.

Scents: the nose is frank and fine, hints of bergamot and black fruits such as blueberry, blackberry, combined with the herbaceousness of myrtle and Mediterranean scrub. Spicy notes in evidence as pepper, concludes with soft notes of pastry and cocoa.

Taste: structured wine, warm, with a nice freshness. Tannin evident but velvety and enveloping that suggests a long longevity. Very pleasant long and persistent finish.

Ideal pairing: gnocco al ragù, pici with game ragù, wild boar, roe deer and jugged hare.

Perfect dish: jugged wild boar.

Fattoria Terre del Marchesato is a small winery managed by the Fuselli family. Vineyards are located in the heart of the best production area of Bolgheri, right in the middle of the plots of land from which are produced the most renowned wines of the area such as Sassicaia, Ornellaia and Guado al Tasso.

The territory has an ancient rural history, in which nobles and sharecroppers have often lived together and cooperated. Terre del Marchesato, whose name is inspired to the old Marquis who owned the land before 1954, is a piece of this history. Definitively converted into a winery in 1998, the company has adhered since the beginning to the DOC Bolgheri.
