2 - Deeper is the Love

Fassati Winery, owned by the Della Camera brothers, is a beautiful wine estate producing fine wines, located in Montepulciano, a splendid medieval town situated in one of the most beautiful areas of the Tuscan territory. Montepulciano rises on a limestone hill that divides the Val D’Orcia from the Val di Chiana.

A unique village with elegant Renaissance palaces, ancient churches, splendid squares, and small hidden corners surrounded by waves of hills cultivated with vineyards, olive groves, and golden fields dotted with cypress trees. A town of rare beauty that definitely deserves a visit!

Already the grandfather Augusto owned some vineyards from which he produced wine for the family and friends, but such was the passion for the land and particularly for wine, that over the years he continued to increase the surface with new purchases and plantings, until in the '80s, not having the possibility to vinify large quantities himself, he began to confer his grapes to the cooperative winery, never abandoning the dream of having his own winery one day.

The opportunity came in January 2015, when the Della Camera family purchased one of the historic wineries of Montepulciano: “Fassati.” From here the dream begins to come true!

Fassati is one of the largest wineries in Montepulciano with a total area of 101 hectares of land, of which 89 hectares are vineyards, 4.50 hectares are olives for the production of extra virgin olive oil. The climate that characterizes the territory is Mediterranean, with cold winters and hot summers, with rain mainly concentrated in autumn and spring.

The vineyards, located on hills with excellent exposure, ideal for the right ripening of the grapes, are characterized by different types of soil: tuffaceous, sandy, clayey. This diversification ensures the enhancement of the various qualities of grapes: Prugnolo Gentile, better known as Sangiovese, Mammolo, Canaiolo, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon.

The vines are pruned using the Guyot method, so that the vine is not exploited to the maximum, resulting in a lower yield but certainly superior quality.

The winery includes a vinification area equipped with modern and functional structures aimed at enhancing the peculiar characteristics of the grapes, steel tanks where the wine is placed for its first passage, the magnificent and evocative barrel room with Slavonian oak barrels with capacities ranging from 20 to 155 Hl and French barriques that ensure the aging of the precious Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG, the flagship of the territory.

Furthermore, the company is equipped with a modern bottling line, where the wine completes its journey packaged in cartons ready for various shipments.

These are just the first steps, thought and taken with the awareness of living and working in a splendid land, rich in history and culture, which deserves all the attention, from the vineyard to its fruit.

Today Giovanni, Tommaso, and little Francesco with passion, love, and great determination carry on the family business.
