Product information
The Marsala Vergine 1999 is a dry fortified wine aged in large oak casks, where a slow process of oxidative ageing takes place.
It should be tasted at least 5–15 minutes after opening to allow the wine time to fully release its aromas.
The wine may contain some light sediment as it is neither filtered nor chilled, in order to preserve its organoleptic qualities.
Grape varieties: Grillo and Catarratto
Growing area: Marsala and Mazara del Vallo
Training system: Marsala bush vine or ‘controspallina’ training system, in dry conditions
Colour: Dark amber
Aroma: Ethereal, intense
Flavour: Oaky, dry, full-bodied, persistent
Ageing: Blended in 1999
Characteristics: Can be kept for several years. Even once opened, it retains its organoleptic characteristics over time thanks to its alcohol content.
Sugar content: 4 g/l
Alcohol content: 19% vol.
Available sizes: 75cl with mushroom-shaped cork
Serving temperature: 15–20°C; 4–6°C when served as an aperitif
Food pairings: Spicy dishes, cured meats and mature cheeses
Production process: A blend of Sicilian white grapes, with added alcohol derived from wine lees, aged for a long time in large oak casks.
