Visit the cellar La Torre alle Tolfe

Favoured by an enchanting panoramic position, the village Torre alle Tolfe is located just 3 km north-east of Siena, at the highest point of a ridge covered with vineyards and olive groves called, in fact, Le Tolfe.

The name, according to tradition, derives from Tolfo dei Gricci, a knight of Charlemagne, who built the tower and the castle there in 785 A.C.
Until the mid-20th century, the village was a sharecropping farm, then acquired by the Castelli family, who transformed it into the farm it is today. Mania Castelli is the current custodian and owner of Torre alle Tolfe.

Torre alle Tolfe is now a 100-hectare agricultural estate, with vineyards, olive groves, arable fields and forests. At the centre is a large villa with a restaurant and 17 rooms where you can stay overnight.

With a strict organic regime, we follow an idea of sustainability and non-interventionism that is also reflected in the wine cellar and in our wines. Spontaneous fermentation, no synthetic chemicals and low levels of sulphur dioxide.

Our wines reflect the beauty of a varied and generous land.

Esperienza davvero da togliere il fiato in tutti i sensi. Location davvero invidiabile, con tanta storia e tanta forza dietro. Io e il mio fidanzato con i suoceri abbiamo visitato questa incantevole e incredibile tenuta. Abbiamo potuto ascoltare la storia di questo luogo incantevole dalla proprietaria, la storia che c'è dietro ad ogni angolo di questo luogo paradisiaco, ogni cosa non è lasciato al caso. Poi abbiamo potuto fare una degustazione dei loro vini di produzione con una eccellente istruttrice inglese, mi dispiace non ricordare il nome ma ci ricordiamo perfettamente quello che ci ha raccontato, insegnato e trasmesso, l'amore per il vino, il duro lavoro che c'è dietro, l'attenzione che si ha nel produrlo, è qualcosa di davvero sbalorditivo. Noi siamo stati davvero bene, andare via è stato difficile ma sicuramente la prossima volta che torneremo in Toscana, la Torre alle Tolfe sarà la primissima meta, e "casa", visto la possibilità di soggiorno. Grazie e arrivederci ...
