Host information

The origins of our family are rooted in Montefalco where it has always lived and cultivated land since 1568, as documented in the Historical Archives of the Municipality.

In 1827 the property was managed by the heir Maria Aloisa Moncelli, a woman of great culture and wisdom to the point of deserving the nickname "La Veneranda". In those years the Noble Maria Aloisa devoted herself with great passion to carry on the production in her lands, the same passion handed down from mother to daughter over the generations until today.

La Veneranda is an exclusively female farm where Eleonora Alessandrelli and Anna Rita Scarca, who, with the love for their land passed down to them by their families, take care of the farm and are committed to the enhancement of Montefalco wines and the preservation of our beautiful land.

The first La Veneranda label made its debut in 2005, thus marking the beginning of the marketing of our bottled wines on a national and international scale.

While remaining a small reality, we follow the wine supply chain in a complete way: from the care and cultivation of vine plants, to grape harvesting, winemaking, bottling and sale.

The fourteen hectares of vineyards in the municipality of Montefalco are located at an altitude of 300 m. a.s.l., on soils of sedimentary and weakly clayey origin, while another two hectares of vineyards are located in the area between Foligno and Spoleto. The vineyards are mainly exposed to the south-east - with vines reaching 40 years of age - and are trained using the spurred cordon system. Our company is committed to the preservation and cultivation of native vines such as Sagrantino, Grechetto and Sangiovese.

Pruning and harvesting are carried out exclusively by hand, to keep the bunches intact until the pressing phase. The land is cultivated with care, respecting sustainable viticultural practices as per the regulations. Respect for the environment also translates for us into the use of clean energy for all the machinery inside the cellar which is powered by renewable energy. In 2019 our company joined the "100% Luce Amica Energia Pulita" project promoted by NWG.
