Tenuta Santa Caterina

Discover the Magic of Tenuta Santa Caterina: A Journey to the Heart of Monferrato

In the beating heart of Piedmont, among the sweet hills of Monferrato Astigiano, stands the historic Tenuta Santa Caterina.

Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this estate is nestled in a landscape that tells stories of ancient times, dating back as far as 961 AD when Marquis Aleramo dedicated these lands to the Benedictine orders. With a history spanning centuries, the property has seen significant changes, culminating in the skillfulconservative restoration carried out by the Alleva family, which has expertly preserved the authenticity and beauty of the place.

The philosophy of ecosustainability is the beating heart of the estate. With a conscious and respectful choice of native grape varieties such as Grignolino, Freisa and Barbera, the winery celebrates the unbreakable bond with the land. The soil, enriched by substrates of marine origin, and the avoidance of chemical treatments in favor of advanced biological practices, allow every nuance of terroir to be enhanced in wines that are a pure expression of Monferrato.

Philosophy and eco-sustainability

The choice of Tenuta Santa Caterina's vines was conditioned by the discovery of soil with a substrate of marine origin, in order to best enhance the characteristics of that unspoiled andrich in history territory. One of the biggest challenges that the company has undertaken is the renunciation of chemical protection in favor of ecosustainability and a close connection with nature. Thus in guyot or spurred cordon plantings, a symbiosis between the vines and the roots has been created with organic consortia, capable of establishing the perfect marriage between soil and vegetation.

All white and red wines produced in the Santa Caterina Estate come from native grape varieties such as Grignolino, Freisa, Barbera, and Nebbiolo, and international grape varieties that have always been present in the area, such as Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. They are conceived with their own identity, aimed at exalting the link with the lands of Monferrato and aiming for excellence.
