For those who love taste, beauty and history the Castle of Spessa is an experience that cannot be missed.
The origins of the Castle of Spessa can already be traced back to Roman times, when the presence of a watchtower and a furnace is documented, while the manor itself dates back to 1200. Over the centuries, from family to family, the castle of Spessa has hosted famous people such as Giacomo Casanova and Lorenzo Da Ponte.
THE CHARM OF THE MEDIEVAL CELLARS AND THE SECRET BUNKER
The wines of the Castle of Spessa are aged in the medieval cellars and in the bunker, dug under the castle during the Second World War but discovered only in 1987 during the renovation of the castle. Situated at a depth of about 18 metres, at a constant temperature of 14 degrees Celsius, the bunker is the ideal place for the refinement of the Estate's fine wines.
VINES AND WINE-GROWING AREAS
The wines of Castello di Spessa are produced with grapes of our estate, coming from the DOC Collio and DOC Friuli Isonzo
