CastelChiuro - Riserva - Valtellina Superiore DOCG

UVE: Nebbiolo-Chiavennasca.
PRODUCTION AREA: The best areas of Valtellina Superiore, on the slopes of the Rhaetian Alps, between Sondrio and Tirano. Vineyards in the municipality of Montagna: Sassorosso and Sassina in the municipality of Teglio: Valle - the average age of the vines is about 50 years. 
ALTITUDE AND EXPOSURE: South exposure at an altitude ranging from 400 to 500 meters above sea level.
FEATURES OF THE LAND: The soil is poor, sandy and rich in stones.
HEALTHING SYSTEM: Guyot modified with a bow.
HARVEST: The best bunches are harvested between mid and late October.
WINE-MAKING: The grapes are traditionally vinified on the skins for 18 days at a controlled temperature of 22 ° - 25 ° C. 
AGING: The wine ages for 60 months in oak barrels of varying capacity between 14 - 20 and 32 HL, followed by an appropriate aging in bottle. 
ORGANOLEPTIC NOTES: A wine was born that fully reflects the tradition and style of a Nebbiolo of the Alps, captivating and at the same time simple, never aggressive. The taste progression is fresh and well rhythmic, with an original harmonious envelope. Thanks to the long aging process, the grumpy nature of the mountain has given way to elegance, finesse and sphericity; with its characteristic transparent red, Castel Chiuro 2009 wraps and involves the whole, leaving a wide finish in the mouth. 
ALCOHOLIC STRENGTH: 13,50 %.
OPTIMAL STORAGE: To be drunk within 15 years if stored horizontally, in a cool place and away from light.
GASTRONOMIC MATCHINGS: First courses with meat and game sauces, long-cooked red meats, medium-matured cheeses.
