Host information

The story of GranCollina, now in its fifth generation, began in 1890 among the hills of the Terre Alfieri in thelower Monferrato bordering the Langhe, when Giacomo Cotto and his wife Elisabetta founded the family farmstead in very hard times for the countryside.
The results of their passion for the land and their hard work are still clearly visible in the original Barbera, Nebbiolo and Arneis vineyard still productive today.
In 1951 Giovanni was born who, with resourcefulness and a desire to learn about the world, began traveling and introducing significant innovations to the winery by introducing new wine production varieties such as Grignolino, Freisa, Bonarda, Dolcetto, Brachetto, Cortese and Chardonnay. The farmstead is restored with the birth of the agritourism and hospitality and culinary business. In 1987 Giovanni married Lilliana and so, with their children Milena, Gabriele and Raffaele, they reached the fifth generation. In 2008 the winery passed into the hands of the fifth generation, which seeks to maintain and enhance past traditions while welcoming the latest agricultural and oenological techniques and technologies. At this point the GranCollina vineyard reaches 18 hectares, all in a beautiful exposure, introducing the latest grape variety, Albarossa, which is transmitted to a wine with very high quality characteristics and great future and value.
Sensitivity to the environment leads to the installation of the renewable energy photovoltaic system that makes the winery energy independent for a pro green that seeks to respect the natural beauty of the countryside.
