Experience information

We are located at the entrance of the Valpolicella Classica, coming from Verona, on the central panoramic hill, in the medieval village of Castelrotto. Our facility is adjacent to the Castrum Rotari (7th century), a historic military fortress considered the “KM Zero” of Valpolicella Classica.

Casa dei Fraccaroli (1790) – a family heritage for centuries, one of the oldest residences in the village, situated in the romantic square of Castelrotto – today includes the Azienda Agricola Borghetti Giampiero, a family boutique winery, and the Castrum Wine Relais – Albergo Diffuso.

The tasting experience begins with check-in at the boutique winery; guests are then escorted to the panoramic terrace/pergola with a splendid view of Valpolicella Classica and the city of Verona.

The tasting includes 3 sparkling wines from the Gold Collection of Borghetti Giampiero Winery.

The wines are accompanied by a platter of Lessinia cheeses and sbrisolona, a typical local dessert.

An upgrade with gourmet platters is also available.

The tasting experience takes place on the panoramic terrace/pergola.

By purchasing wines in our wine shop for a value of at least 5 times the cost of the tasting, the experience will be offered by us: the cost of the tasting will be discounted on-site.

Includes:

  • Tasting experience on the panoramic terrace/pergola
  • Tasting of 3 sparkling wines: Prosecco DOC, Prosecco Rosé DOC, Moscato
  • Platter of Lessinia cheeses
  • Sbrisolona (typical local dessert)
  • Upgrade option for gourmet platters – 10 euros/pax
  • Possibility of a discount on the tasting cost with wine purchase in the wine shop

Host information

The Giampiero Borghetti winery, located in Castelrotto in the municipality of San Pietro in Cariano, in the heart of the Valpolicella Classica area, offers not only excellent wines but also a unique experience of stay in an authentic wine resort. Our historic residence, Casa Fraccaroli, which has been producing wines since 1790, is now a reference point for those seeking an authentic Valpolicella tasting experience.

Casa Fraccaroli, which has always remained in the family, is now under the ownership of Giampiero, the direct heir of the Fraccaroli family. The history of the winery saw a significant leap in quality in the 1980s, when Lisetta and Paolo Borghetti, Giampiero's parents, built the new cellar, where winemaking still takes place today.

In 2022, Giampiero set up a new reception area directly in the cellar, transforming it into a scenic stage decorated with precious artistic mosaics, perfect for Valpolicella wine tastings. This cellar is not just a production site, but a true wine resort, where guests can fully immerse themselves in the world of wine.

Moreover, our wine resort is associated with a bistro and a relais located in the ancient family villa, under the name Castrum, in memory of the ancient fortress that stood until the 15th century on the top of the hill. Here, guests can experience the unique opportunity to "sleep in the cellar," staying in elegantly furnished rooms that reflect the history and winemaking tradition of our family.

Today, Giampiero Borghetti Agricultural Company produces the typical red wines of Valpolicella, plus two original IGT wines and a sweet red passito. We offer two lines of labels: one linked to the Giampiero Borghetti winery, ideal for wine lovers seeking an authentic Valpolicella tasting experience, and the other under the name Castrum, dedicated to the works of the neoclassical sculptor Innocenzo Fraccaroli, Giampiero's ancestor who was born right in Casa Fraccaroli.

Food and wine weekend in Valpolicella (Infrasweekly)

Evening tasting at the bistro - Long Journey Classic igt
Piccola cantina in una location molto suggestiva Vini interessanti per una etichetta poco blasonata ma che trasuda amore nel far vino e rispetto delle tradizioni
