LANGHE D.O.C. ROSSO “Vigiu”

"Vigiu" in Piedmont means Luigi, the name of the founder of the Luigi Drocco farm. Produced with grapes from the vineyards of Alba. Exposure: South-south-east. Grape variety: 50% Nebbiolo 50% Barbera. Soil: Medium sandy clayey mixture. Vinification: Careful selection of grapes. Stemmer-crushing. Alcoholic fermentation at a controlled temperature of about 28 ° C in stainless steel, maceration for 5 days. Racking and malolactic fermentation in stainless steel in November. Ageing: small wooden barrels, then aged in bottle. Tasting notes: Intense ruby red with garnet reflections, it has a rich nose of fruity nuances of cherry and plum, floral notes of violet and dog rose, to close in pleasant spices. A gratifying sip of good freshness and a slightly bitter finish. Average life of the wine: 5/8 years. Alcohol: 13.5% - 14%Vol Serving temperature: 18 ° - 20 ° C. Food pairing: Appetizers, first courses, white meats, boiled or grilled red meats, fresh cheeses.
 

The Drocco Luigi farm, also called Cascina Pontepietra, has been synonymous with quality and variety since 1959. Its working methods are rigorous and increasingly marked by the protection of the environment and the healthiness of the wine, through methods
such as organic fertilisation, very limited use of sulphites and the abandonment of herbicides and animal components in the cellar. We are talking about a producer who is always at the forefront, and who began to produce the white wines of the Langhe when very few people there
gave credibility; it was the 80s when Drocco made Arneis and Chardonnay wine, then still without the Controlled Designation of Origin. Pioneer for having added the wine "Alba" to the wide assortment of the cellar, since the birth of this DOC, in 2010:
