Our cellar
Fattoria Terre del Marchesato is a small winery managed by the Fuselli family. Vineyards are located in the heart of the best production area of Bolgheri, right in the middle of the plots of land from which are produced the most renowned wines of the area such as Sassicaia, Ornellaia and Guado al Tasso.
The territory has an ancient rural history, in which nobles and sharecroppers have often lived together and cooperated. Terre del Marchesato, whose name is inspired to the old Marquis who owned the land before 1954, is a piece of this history. Definitively converted into a winery in 1998, the company has adhered since the beginning to the DOC Bolgheri.
Aspiring to carve out a small but significant space among the best producers of Bolgheri, since the beginning of the activity, they have tried to pursue high levels of excellence so that their wines express not only the uniqueness of the terroir, but also the identity and tradition of their family history...
Four Generations of Fuselli: A Passion Passed Down Through the Hands
It all began with our great-grandfather Emilio Fuselli.
In 1954, he made a bold choice: he purchased this land from Marchese Mario Incisa della Rocchetta – yes, the father of Sassicaia – and dedicated it to vegetables and grapes. He couldn't have imagined what we would become, but he planted the seed of it all.
We learned from the best teachers: our grandparents
After two generations, our father Maurizio was already a complete farmer at just twenty years old. How did he manage it? He had the fortune of growing up alongside Emilio and grandfather Aldo, who taught him to listen to the land, respect its timing, and not to rush.
But the real turning point came when Maurizio worked for ten years at Guado al Tasso, under the guidance of the Antinori family. There, he learned the complete art of viticulture: from the vineyard to the bottle, without shortcuts.
In 1996, our father decided to go it alone
He felt it was time. He took over the family lands from grandfather Aldo, patiently restored the old vineyards, grafting them one by one. In 1998, he planted the first new vineyards.
In 2003, we had our first harvest – in the new winery, small but all ours.
Thus, Emilio Primo was born: a classic Bolgheri blend dedicated to our great-grandfather. We couldn't have named it otherwise.
Every wine we produce bears the name of someone we love
When the vineyards reached the right maturity, our father followed his passion for single varietals. Among them is Aldone, a great pure Merlot from the old family vineyard. We dedicated it to grandfather Aldo, with all the affection that binds us to him.
Today, we are all here, together
We run the company as a family. There is father Maurizio, mother Giovanna, and us three brothers: Alessandro, Samuele, and Filippo.
Four generations after that first purchase, the land of the Marchesato is still in the hands of the Fuselli family. And in every bottle we produce, there is a piece of all of us: the great-grandfather who dared, the grandfather who taught, our father who built, and us who carry on this story.
