Immersed in the green Tuscan hills, between Florence and Arezzo in the heart of the Aretine Hills, in the Tuscany of wine that gave birth to Chianti, Tuscan wine par excellence and the first ambassador of wine Italy in the world, Tenuta la Pineta was purchased in 1985 by Giuseppe Scortecci, attracted by the amenity of the place and the possibility of making it a hunting estate.
The main body of the estate covers an area of 110 hectares, 5 of which are planted with vineyards, 1 with olive groves, 10 with arable land and the rest wooded. To these have recently been added a further 1.7 hectares of olive grove in Pieve San Giovanni, an area particularly suited to the cultivation of olives. The property is completed by the manor house with the farm centre and an old eighteenth-century Leopoldine farmhouse, currently under renovation.
Since the times of the Etruscans and the Romans, many peoples have fought over the centuries for this fertile and generous land, making it an evocative territory rich in history. The artistic and cultural testimonies show that the quality of life has always been a priority for the locals, since time immemorial, as well as today.
In the days of ancient Greece, the pine cone with its seeds was a symbol of fertility, life force and immortality. Dionysus, god of wine, used to carry one on top? of the thyrsus, his scepter-stick.
The realization of quality products is the point of reference that daily orients the company philosophy.
A skilful combination of tradition and innovation follows hand in hand the love for their land, which has characterized the Scortecci family for several generations. The cultivation of autochthonous varieties, both vine and olive, for which our terroir is particularly suited, allows to obtain products that are typical and genuine expression of our territory.
SMALL IS BEAUTIFUL: Wine, extra virgin olive oil and honey are produced in limited quantities, and thanks to this they can enjoy all our care. Tenuta la Pineta is a small boutique-farm, where the owners, flanked by valid collaborators, and driven by a healthy passion, put all their enthusiasm into dedicating every attention to their vineyards, olive groves and beehives.
