Valtellina is the most important terraced wine area in the north of Italy. Here, among the Alps, where 2500 kilometers of dry stone walls support small patches of land, Nebbiolo, a native vine, has been cultivated for centuries.
I have been dedicated to this vertical land for years, with altitudes between 350 and 700 meters above sea level, to express with sensitivity all the elegance of mountain Nebbiolo.
My new winery, built according to an energetic sustainability protocol, is the modern version of the "crotto": a natural cavity between the rocks of the mountain where the Sorèl blows, a constant wind that keeps the temperature cool throughout the year. The story of my family began right here, the first crotto of the Valchiavenna to open to the public in 1928: now the restaurant is run by my sister and in the historic cellar, where I keep the best vintages of my wines, I welcome guests.
We welcome you in the area in front of the crotto, where the old vintages are kept, for a vertical tasting experience: 16 wines to choose from, starting from the Igt Alpi Retiche, to Rosso Doc, to pass to the Valtellina Superiore and end with the Sforzato .
