Since the end of April 1487, Ludovico Sforza, known as il Moro, had expressed the intention to fortify Tirano in order to counter the arrival of the Grisons.
The latter aimed to seize the valleys of Adda and Mera, a goal achieved in 1512. The duke was indeed very apprehensive "when he learned that an unusual road had been started from the Bernina Pass towards Poschiavo to allow carts to reach Puscalivio".
An enchanting journey that intertwines history, art, and wine tradition.
We will stroll through the walls and streets of the city to discover the figure of Ludovico il Moro, the Renaissance duke who profoundly influenced the fate of this land.
Through historical anecdotes and panoramic views, we will uncover how the ducal history has left an indelible mark on the landscape and local traditions.
The tour will conclude with a tasting of Sforzato, a wine that tells the strength of the alpine nature and the refinement of Renaissance culture with every sip.

Returning on the weekend of September 13th and 14th, Sforzato Wine Festival – EROICO ROSSO, an event entirely dedicated to Sforzato, with which Tirano celebrates the most exclusive DOCG among Valtellina wines.
During the weekend, AIS and ONAV experts will guide all visitors to discover this extraordinary wine: the city will be the theater of tastings that will animate the wonderful historic palaces, courtyards, and gardens on Saturday evening and Sunday.
Eroico Rosso offers, in addition to the “diffused tastings”, other dedicated moments: the show “Redivino”, a performance where wine meets theater; the light games with the grand spectacle of the Dancing Fountains illuminating every corner of the beautiful Tirano for a visit full of magic.
Among the proposals are also some moments of history and discovery of this “heroic” wine and the city of Tirano: “Sforzato Family Tour with the jester”, a character who, like in the ancient courts of the past, will enchant both adults and children with his tales, a “Heroic Tour with Ludovico il Moro between wine and history”, and “Brindarte”.
