Our prestigious Terramano Winery is located in Bacchereto, an enchanting place where wine-making tradition meets history and culture. The name Bacchereto originates from the Roman deity "Bacchus," reflecting the exceptional soil qualities and optimal sun exposure of these lands, ideal for the production of Vin Santo and other fine wines.
We are positioned on the lush and historic hills of Montalbano, at an altitude ranging from 180 to 300 meters. Our breathtaking landscape extends to Carmignano and beyond, reaching Florence (25 km), Prato (15 km), Pistoia (18 km) and Vinci (10 km).
The history of Bacchereto Farm is fascinating and rich in tradition. Originally a small hunting lodge belonging to the Medici Hunting Estate in the 15th century, the structure has witnessed numerous changes and changes of ownership over the centuries. Today, we still preserve some remains of the enclosure wall of the famous Royal Park, known at the time as Barco.
After the extinction of the Medici dynasty in the late 1700s, the property passed to the noble Banci family of Prato, who transformed the structure into a villa-farm. The farm was managed by Annunziata Banci, a woman of great depth, whose commitment is still visible in the many farmhouses and farm structures she built.
In 1860, the property passed to Baron Franchetti's family, under whose management the farm continued to prosper.
Today, Fattoria di Bacchereto is proudly run by the Bencini Tesi family, which keeps alive the winemaking traditions and love for the land.
